On the Dole vegetable transplanter, trays of transplants are loaded vertically on a revolving carousel. Each plant is mechanically pulled from the tray and guided to a trench in the soil without being touched by human hands. The plants are set at preset spacing and the roots covered with soil by press wheels. The machine can be operated by two people the driver and the person that loads the carousel. This transplanter plants multiple rows simultaneously. Other types of automated transplanters are also used by the vegetable industry.
